Tax Benefits of Donating to the International Relief Fund

The International Aid Fund for Waldorf Education is registered as a ‘Public Benefit Organisation’ (ANBI). This means that no inheritance tax needs to be paid on legacies. An ANBI institution does not pay inheritance tax on received inheritances and legacies.

Contributions and gifts are deductible in accordance with the tax rules for income tax up to an amount of 10% of the taxable income, with a threshold of 1%.

If you record your donation for at least five years, the entire annual donation amount is deductible, so without a threshold. You can arrange this by means of a periodic donation agreement. This does not have to be done through a notary and there are no further costs involved. Forms are available from our administration

(via info@internationaalhulpfonds.nl).

A donation agreement offers the IHF certainty regarding income during the term of the agreement. We appreciate that very much. If you also want your tax benefit to benefit the IHF (i.e. the amount of the tax deduction), you can increase the amount of the donation by the amount that you get back from the tax authorities.

An example to clarify the latter. Suppose you conclude a donation agreement for € 100 per year. You can now deduct this in full from your income tax. Suppose your income falls entirely in the first bracket, then you can deduct 36.97% (in 2024) and you will therefore get € 36.97 back from the tax authorities. If you want this refund to benefit the IHF, you can increase the amount of the donation agreement by this amount. In the end, you will then lose the same amount, but the IHF will receive more money.
