The Stellenbosch Waldorf School, opened in 1993, is a bastion of diversity in South Africa. Despite recent challenges, the school is reviving at a new location, with hope for recovery and growth.

The East and Central Africa portfolio includes nine Waldorf schools. They use the East African Teacher Training (EATT), now led by local teachers. Teachers train three times a year at EATT in Nairobi. The training costs of €3000 are subsidized by the IHF.

Thanks to contributions from the International Aid Fund, positive changes have been made at the Baantontham kindergarten in Thailand, despite ongoing challenges. Support is still needed for further growth.

A new star in the firmament of Waldorf schools

Amidst Khayelitsa, Cape Town's largest and most dangerous township, stands Waldorf School Zenzeleni. Founded in 1999 by a group of parents, the school has grown from a single classroom to a thriving institution with 224 students.

The 'Emergency Pedagogy' conference at the Vrije School Den Haag highlighted Waldorf pedagogy in crisis situations, with a focus on the work of Parzivalzentrum and stART International.
